I went to St Andrews University over Easter for an open day and they took me round their physics department. One of their most interesting research departments is on Photonics and were telling us how they have developed a cream and using light they can kill off cancer in the skin.
The idea is you rub the cream into your affected area and the cream is absorbed by the cancer. Then apply a light of certain frequency and the light will destroy the cancer cells. Amazing science!
Then I was taken to their observatory and saw Britain’s largest operational telescope-it was huge! I was nervous at first but the people their were so helpful and to be honest typical mad scientists that I fell in love with St Andrews. If you have the chance have a look around.
